Help Center / Getting started
Getting started
New to Spark? Start here.
Spark classes suit every fitness level. You can modify any pose or move. The hardest part is to show up.
Spark classes are in three groups:
- Yoga: Flow, Power, Refine, Stretch, Restore and Yin.
- Strength: Sculpt, Bootcamp, Lift and Core + Cardio.
- Barre: Barre, Floor Barre and Barre HIIT.
Start with the type of class that interests you most. Then try others. For what happens in each class, see "What is each class like?"
Classes are heated unless the timetable says otherwise. All classes at Buchon are warm or non-heated. Non-heated is 70-72 degrees, and warm is 73-75 degrees.
Yoga
- Flow: fluid moves set to your breath and upbeat music. Playful and sweaty. Slower than Power, more active than Refine. All levels. 100 degrees.
- Candle Flow: Flow by candlelight.
- Power: a challenging flow with strength and toning. More active than Flow, like Sculpt without weights. All levels, but some yoga basics help. 100 degrees.
- Refine: a foundational class: breath, alignment and stability, holding poses for a few breaths. Slower than Flow, more active than Restore. All levels. 100 degrees.
- Yang+Yin (candlelit): 45 minutes of Power Flow, then 25 minutes of restorative poses. 100 degrees.
- Stretch: active stretching and mobility work for flexibility and healthy joints. Less active than Refine, more movement than Restore or Yin.
- Restore: slow and calming, mostly seated or lying down, with props for support. 80-83 degrees. May include sound bowls.
- Yin: seated and lying poses held for longer, for your joints, fascia and flexibility. 80 degrees. May include sound bowls.
Strength
- Sculpt: Power Flow with light weights. Sweaty and challenging. Some yoga basics help, but all levels are welcome. 95 degrees.
- Bootcamp: high-intensity strength training with bands and weights, plus intervals. 95 degrees.
- Lift: heavy dumbbells, compound lifts and coaching on form, to build strength that lasts.
- Core + Cardio: a HIIT class that switches between core work and short bursts of cardio. All levels. 95 degrees.
Barre
- Barre: low-impact pilates, yoga, strength and ballet basics, for core strength and posture. 90-95 degrees.
- Floor Barre: Barre without the barre: small, precise moves for a full-body burn.
- Barre HIIT: Barre with low-impact cardio intervals. Modifications for every level.
Playlists in Sculpt, Barre, Bootcamp and Core + Cardio may be explicit.

Help Center / Booking
Booking
Booking, waitlists and cancelling a class.
Booking for a class opens at midnight, one week before the class.
For example, for a 6:00 am class on a Wednesday, booking opens at 12:00 am on the Wednesday one week before.
If a class is full, join the waitlist in the Spark Yoga app or on our website. You can join until 1 hour before class.
When a spot opens: we move the next person on the waitlist into the class, and we text you. You do not need to do anything.
If you cannot come: reply C or CANCEL to that text at any time before class. We give the spot to someone else, and we do not charge you a fee. If you no longer want the class, you can also leave the waitlist in the app.
When the waitlist stops adding people: close to class time, the waitlist stops moving people in.
- For most classes, this is 1 hour before class.
- For classes before 9 am, this is 10 hours before class, when the late-cancel window opens. For a 7:30 am class, that is 9:30 pm the night before. So you do not get a text in the middle of the night.
Want a spot that opens after that? Text STATUS to the number that sends your waitlist texts. Then reply with the number for one class, or for all your waitlists. If a spot opens, we move you in and text you. If you cannot come, reply C or CANCEL up to 15 minutes before class, and we do not charge you a fee.
1 hour before class: the waitlist closes. We remove everyone who is still on the waitlist. Any open spot is then first come, first served. Check the app for spots that open from late cancellations.
Other texts you can send:
- STATUS: see your waitlists and your place on each one.
- Running late? Text us, and we tell the front desk that you are on your way.
Cancel a class at any time in your account on our website, or on the home screen of the Spark Yoga app.
If you will not come to class, please cancel. Do this if you have a spot in class and also if you are on the waitlist.
To avoid a fee, cancel before the late-cancel window:
- A class that starts after 9 am: cancel at least 3 hours before class.
- A class that starts at 9 am or earlier: cancel at least 10 hours before class.
A late cancel costs $6. A no-show costs $12.
Yes, of course. There are two ways:
- Your guest buys their own drop-in ($30) or class pack, and books their own spot.
- You book for them. Class packs and drop-ins work for you and for a guest. Use a credit from your class pack, or buy a drop-in, and book a spot for your guest in the Spark Yoga app or in your account on our website.
Guests are not included in your membership, so use one of the two ways above. Class pack and drop-in credits stay on the account of the person who bought them.
When you book, add your guest's email. We use it to set up their account and waiver before they arrive, so they are ready to go at the studio.
Help Center / At the studio
At the studio
Checking in, what to bring, and studio rules.
When you arrive at the studio, say hello at the front desk. The front desk checks you in to your class.
Before class:
- Put your personal things in the cubbies.
- Turn off the sound on your phone, and leave your phone in the cubby. Please do not bring phones into class.
- If you wear a smart watch, set it to airplane mode or theater mode.
- In the lobby, please speak quietly. Other classes may be in session.
Say hello to other people in the Spark community.
Each studio room has numbers that show your spot in class.
- Yoga and fitness classes: put the top left corner of your mat at the number on the floor.
- Barre: put the top left corner of your mat at the number on the baseboard under the barre.
Each type of class uses different props. The whiteboard outside the studio room shows the props for your class. You can also ask the front desk or your instructor.
- Flow, Refine and Restore yoga: a strap, a band, a bolster and a blanket.
- Bootcamp and Sculpt: two sets of weights, a strap, a band, and sometimes gliders.
During class
- Please stay for the full class. This respects the other students and your instructor.
- Follow the instructor's flow. This keeps the class together. You can always modify a pose or move to keep your practice safe.
- Listen to your body. Rest or drink water when you need to. Some fitness classes are hard on purpose, and a break is always fine. Your instructor may not tell you when to rest, so take what you need.
After class
- The instructor opens the studio doors at the end of class.
- Put your props back where they belong. Our staff clean them.
- Put used towels in the laundry bin outside the room.
- Laurel Lane and Foothill have showers.
Each studio has a bike rack outside. Bring a lock to lock your bike there. Bikes cannot come inside the studio.

If the waitlist moves you into class inside the window, reply C or CANCEL to our text. We then do not charge you.

No. To respect the other students and the instructor, we do not let anyone into class after it starts. Please plan to arrive early.
If you have an emergency, chat with us on sparkyoga.com or email hello@sparkyoga.com, and we will cancel your booking.
Here is what we can refund.

- A class you already used: we cannot refund a class credit after you use it.
- Memberships: we do not refund part of a month. See "How do I cancel my membership?"
- The New-to-Spark offer: write to us, and a team member will look at your request.
- Charged twice? Tell us, and a team member will check your account and refund the extra charge.
- Clothing: sale items are final sale. Other clothing can be refunded if you have not worn it.
A refund takes a couple of business days to reach your card.
For late-cancel and no-show fees, see "What are the late-cancel and no-show fees?"
To ask for a refund, email hello@sparkyoga.com. If you are already writing to us, ask in the same email. You can also ask in the chat. Tap the chat button on any page of sparkyoga.com, tap Help with my account, and enter the code we email you.
The minimum age to practice at Spark is 14. You also need a signature from a parent or guardian.
Please do not bring your children to the studio during your class. This is for the comfort of our staff and other clients.
If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before you take any class, heated or not heated.

- One-Month Unlimited: $179 for one month, with no commitment.

Classes without a membership
- Drop-in: $30 for one class.
- 5 Class Pack: $129.
- 10 Class Pack: $239.
- Spark On-Demand plan: $20 a month, for video classes only.

New to Spark? Your first 3 classes cost $50 together. Use them within 2 weeks.
Buy any of these in the Spark Yoga app or on our website.
Yes. Full-time Cal Poly and Cuesta students pay $139 a month for Spark Unlimited. The student rate has a 3-month minimum.
To get the student rate, verify your student status with your school email. Then buy Spark Unlimited, and the discount applies at checkout. You verify once a year, before fall term.
The student rate does not apply to One-Month Unlimited.
We do not offer other discounts.
You can freeze your membership two times each calendar year. The two freezes together can last up to 3 months.
Ask for the freeze at least 1 day before your billing date. If the freeze starts on your billing date, we still charge that month. We cannot refund a payment that we already took.
- Your billing date moves out by the length of the freeze.
- There is no fee to freeze.
- Billing starts again on its own when the freeze ends.
- You can end a freeze early. Just ask us.
Medical freeze: if you cannot use the studio for a medical reason, you can freeze for up to 6 months. A medical freeze longer than 3 months needs a letter from your doctor.
Pregnancy freeze: you can freeze for up to 9 months. You do not need a doctor's letter.
To ask for a freeze, email us at hello@sparkyoga.com. If you are already writing to us, ask in the same email. Tell us your start and end dates. You can also ask in the chat. Tap the chat button on any page of sparkyoga.com, tap Help with my account, and enter the code we email you.
To cancel, email us at hello@sparkyoga.com before your next billing date. If you are already writing to us, ask in the same email. You can also ask in the chat. Tap the chat button on any page of sparkyoga.com, tap Help with my account, and enter the code we email you.
Your membership ends at the end of your current billing cycle. You can use it until the day before your next billing date. We do not give part refunds for part of a month.
Spark Unlimited and the student rate have a 3-month minimum. You can cancel only after the first 3 months.
Before you cancel, think about a freeze. If you have an older, lower rate, you lose it when you cancel. A freeze keeps your rate.
A cancellation cannot be undone. To come back later, you buy a new membership at the current price.
If your monthly payment does not go through, the app asks you to pay before you can book a class.
To fix it, open the Spark Yoga app and go to the payment methods in your account:
- Add a card that works.
- Delete any card you do not want us to charge.
After you add the card, we charge the missed payment automatically. Then you can book again.
Which card do you charge? We charge the first card on your account. To make sure we charge the card you want, delete the other cards in the app.
If you see more than one charge after you fix your card, chat with us on sparkyoga.com or email hello@sparkyoga.com. If you are already writing to us, ask in the same email.
